She was awarded the 2016-2017 COG Literary Award, judged by Juan Felipe Herrera, the 2018 Beullah Rose Poetry Prize, and most recently, second place in the Pablo Neruda Prize for Poetry. She is the author of three full-length poetry collections with Glass Lyre Press: Gravel Ghosts (2016), The Dark’s Humming (2015 Lyrebird Award Winner, 2017), Grief Flowers (2018), four chapbooks, and a children’s book, These Words I Shaped for You (Philomel Books). Megan Merchant lives in the tall pines of Prescott, AZ with her husband and two children. Editor, Pirene's Fountain: Megan Merchant.Her first poetry collection, “Shade of Blue Trees”, will be published by Two Sylvias Press in 2021. She lives in northern California with her family. Her poems have been nominated for Pushcart Prizes, Best New Poets, Best of the Net and have appeared widely in journals and at literary websites including Crab Orchard Review, Escape into Life, Gargoyle, Guesthouse, North American Review, Poet Lore, Radar Poetry, Salamander, Tinderbox Poetry Review, THRUSH Poetry Journal, Valparaiso Poetry Review, Water~Stone Review, and ZYZZYVA, among others. She is a poet, visual artist, and loves to play the drums. She holds a BA degree in Humanities from San José State University where she also completed extensive graduate coursework in Art History. Kelly works as a poetry reader for the Glass Lyre editing team. As a member of the Pirene’s Fountain editing team since it’s inception in 2008, Lark has lent her voice to PF’s philosophy and long term vision, assisted in creating awards to recognize poetic excellence, showcased and interviewed contemporary poets for PF features online and in print, and read and evaluated writer’s submissions for publication. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() She credits her maternal grandfather, a scholarly Southern gentleman and 50’s Midwest newspaper editor who recited Shakespeare and her father, a local author-historian, jazz pianist and Professor Emeritus, for her lifelong love and respect for written language. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and taught in the primary grades for 20 years. Lark is a native Texan, born and raised in the beautiful desert Southwest. She has also published benefit anthologies: Sunrise from Blue Thunder (Japan 2011 disasters), Carrying the Branch: Poets in Search of Peace, and recently, Collateral Damage, for disadvantaged children. As publisher for Glass Lyre Press, and editor of Pirene’s Fountain and the Aeolian Harp Series, she has guided numerous books, chapbooks, and anthologies to print.
